Long Lake Library Billboards

billboards

Literacy and freely-available information are two things I value highly and think everyone on Earth should have access to, so when this passion portfolio piece came to my mind I pursued it immediately and made these eye-catching billboard designs.

In the billboard for The Invisible Man, a part of the background becomes invisible with the silhouette of the titular character. The ever-present and highly symbolic eyes of Dr. T. J. Eclkeberg watch billboard viewers from Jazz Age world of The Great Gatsby. The dystopian setting of Fahrenheit 451 burns through the billboard in a scene styled after paper cut art and shadowboxes. These three books were chosen because of personal preference, but also because of the heavy visual symbolism featured in these particular books.

Long Lake is a very common place name in North America, so it was chosen as a generic library name for this portfolio piece. If this project were real, the billboards would work to connect the audience with library resources, especially classic literature.
